Inspiration evening with Andrew Vernon

When: Tuesday July 24 2012. Time: 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Where: Park Station. 5851 Park Boulevard Pinellas Park, FL 33781

This month we will continue to expose local talent with photographer Andrew Vernon.
Andrew works as a portrait photographer in his family owned business but his real strength and passion lies in his landscape work.

I have invited Andrew to talk about his images and his inspiration. Of particular interest may be the techniques he uses for long exposures and his B/W conversions to create some spectacular imagery. He has just come back from a trip to Alaska so im sure he will include some very recent work.
Andrew has also been and Editors Choice at just as our presenter, Dennis Ramos was last month. Wow, we have some talent in this area don’t we?

Along the way Andrew will give a hands on demonstration of a few tips and tricks he has learned. I believe we can all learn from hearing how others acheive their results and perhaps apply the same methods to our own imagery.

About Andrew:

I’m a second generation photographer and am a born & raised resident of the tampa area! My family owns and operates a high volume school and sports photography business for which I run our portrait studio which photographs the roughly 300 seniors associated with each of our high schools. While I’ve been raised in and around the business of photography, I didn’t get my own SLR, or have any interest in the family business until late in 2008. While I love my job and have a blast providing high school senior portraits, I am most passionate about my landscape photography. Over the past 3 years, I have been working to build a portfolio of dynamic images from our area and many others across the country. There’s something about being outside, in great light, and getting the chance to show that experience to others that moves me.

My curiosity and boredom have consistently driven me to continue learning new techniques and tricks since then. I find post production to be an incredibly important step in the creative process especially for landscape photographers and have learned a few tricks/found a few tools along the way to make myself faster and more efficient. If not at the studio, I can usually be found outside shooting somewhere, or editing some new landscapes while catching up on my iced toffee nut latte addiction at Starbucks.
