One of the differences between Lightroom 2 and Lightroom 3 concerns the processing of Raw files in the Develop Module.
From the menu item – Settings, you will find a new item labeled – Process Version.
Currently your choices will be Version 2 (Latest) or Version 1. So what do they mean?
Any file that had been modified in Lightroom 2 will actually have been processed using Process Version 1 settings (yes, slightly odd I know) and any files that were modified in Lightroom 3 will be using Process Version 2.
You can switch back and forth between the two settings to see what the differences are. Sometimes the difference will be negligible and other times qite significant depending on the adjustments you have made.
In this example we can see that the vignette is limited by the options that were available in Lightroom 2. Notice that “Style” and “Contrast” are not options.
In Lightroom 3 we have additional options for Post-Crop Vignetting which now appear in the Effects panel.
Here are the same settings applied in Version 1 and then Version 2. Notice how version 1, without the option of Color Priority affects the upper right side of the ball.
